Volunteering at Bike Works

Our volunteer community makes much of the work we do possible, helping out in every part of our organization. From individual efforts to large group projects, there is a volunteer opportunity for anyone 18+ years old. For corporate and group volunteering opportunities, please contact our Stewardship Manager, Paige Anderson, at paige@bikeworks.org

If you are an individual interested in fixing bikes that we donate to our community members in need, here is how to get involved:

1. Fill out a volunteer application

2. Sign up for a Volunteer Repair Party (VRP) orientation

3. After completing an orientation, you can sign up for our weekly VRPs! Check our website calendar for any updates or cancellations

If you are a current bike repair student completing worktrade for reduced tuition, you may bypass orientation and attend a “regular” VRP if you have completed two class sessions.

VRPs are every Monday from 6-9pm* and every Thursday from 6-9pm.

*UPDATE: Sunday VRPs have moved to Mondays (6-9pm), as of May 13, 2024*

At VRP, you can expect to fix flat tires, replace broken parts, and fine tune components like brakes, gears, and bearing systems. We also need help with taking in donations and organizing our space. A staff member will help you choose a project that matches your skill level. We work with all levels of experience! You can volunteer with us to fulfill community service hours or in exchange for reduced tuition for our adult bike repair classes.
