Bike Works is teaming up with Alta & Urban Artworks to bring you a bicycle-tastic PARK(ing) Day, sponsored in part by BECU!
Stop by and hang out with us at our PARK(ing) Day pop-up installation, where we’re transforming TWO WHOLE blocks of parking into a place for people (and their bikes)!
PARK(ing) Day is Friday, September 20th from 9:30 a.m. — 5:30 p.m. Feel free to drop in for any amount of time to hang out. We will be at the Columbia City Neighborhood Cluster on Rainier Ave S between Hudson & Edmunds St.
Join us for a day of awesome activities including: games, public art, snacks, and more. Come relax, hang out, and enjoy fun times imagining bike and pedestrian friendly streets in South Seattle!
We’re looking for a couple of awesome volunteers willing to help activate the space by running activities, participating in the fun, and spreading the word about Bike Works. Have questions, or want to get involved? Contact Elise Hirschi at firstname.lastname@example.org. Make sure you’ve filled out the volunteer application form!
Are you interested in making your own pop-up park in a parking space along Rainier Ave S on 9/20? Whether you’re a part of a nonprofit, business, or a creative group of friends, contact Elise to discuss making your own PARK(ing) Day installation!
What is PARK(ing) Day?
“PARK(ing) Day is an annual open-source global event where citizens, artists and activists collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into PARK(ing) spaces: temporary public places. The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat – at least until the meter runs out!”
