Join us for an introductory birding event – on wheels! We are partnering with the Seward Park Audubon Center and Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife to take you on a casual bike ride to showcase some local birding hotspots in Seattle.
Sandwiches will be provided and loaner bikes will be available if needed!
You will learn to:
– use binoculars
– identify common backyard birds of Washington
– find local birding resources
– find local resources for renting and repairing a bike
What to bring:
– mask
– bike helmet
– rain jacket
– small backpack (to carry binoculars, water, etc)
– binoculars (optional – will be provided, bring your own if you prefer)
– sunglases/sunscreen
– water
– snacks
Bike route: intermediate – participants should feel comfortable balancing, braking, shifting gears, going up and down steep hills, and riding with traffic. Approx. 9 miles roundtrip
Birding skill level: novice
Participants: riders must be 9 years or older unless you (parent/guardian) have a trailer, tagalong, or similar method of bringing them along so they aren’t riding independently
