Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the garden… Join us for our second annual spring alleycat to help welcome and celebrate the season of rebirth.
What is an alleycat?
An alleycat is a bike race modeled after a day in the life of a bike messenger; the checkpoints will be kept secret until the day of, and the ride will take place on city streets amongst traffic. There is no set route, and it is up to the rider to navigate their own path from checkpoint to checkpoint.
We recognize that all sorts of people of varying abilities ride bicycles. The one thing we all have in common is that we find cycling fun. So we’ve planned the ride to celebrate and encourage fun with a wide array of jovial checkpoints and challenges based on non-bike related talent and luck. Prizes given for mini-game challenges, best dressed, fastest, slowest, etc. Food and drink will be provided.
Meet: 1 PM at the Bike Works Bike Shop.
Ride: Starts at 2 PM SHARP. There will be no set route and more checkpoints than is possible to complete. Hit as many spots and complete as many challenges as possible before 4pm. After that, folks should head back to Bike Works. Rain or shine!
Celebrate: 4 – 5 PM at Bike Works for food, drinks, awards, prizes, FREE Ezell’s fried chicken meals, and Vegetarian, Vegan, and GF Pagliacci pizza. We’ll also have a build your own REI sunglasses for all!!”
Bring: Mask, helmet, water bottle, lights, a bag, bike lock (limited bike parking available on site). In an effort to help us reduce waste, please consider bringing a reusable cup/mug. We’ll have food to share but please feel free to bring snacks to accommodate your dietary needs.
Optional Dress Code: Floral Spring Awakening
