Warehouse & classrooms
Please check our COVID-19 update for information about our current operations.

The warehouse is open bi-weekly to the public to shop for parts & “as-is” bikes, and every Saturday for adults to use our tools with the help of a professional mechanic.

This year, Bike Works celebrated the 5yr workiversary of Warehouse Manager Steve @steven.biopace. Steve leads the Reuse & Recycle department in processing about 8,000 bike donations every year (that's over 200,000 pounds!) You do the math - 200k lbs of recycled materials x 5yrs of work = 1 MILLION POUNDS of steel, titanium, carbon fiber, and aluminum diverted from the waste stream and back on the road in the form of #bikesforall.
"Five years in the warehouse can really change your perspective on the bike industry. Some days I feel like a sea turtle floating in the great Pacific garbage patch with a straw stuck up my nose and some days I feel like Ariel from the Little Mermaid, singing about thingamobobs. No matter what, at the end of the day I still feel grateful and lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people who all feel like we are making a small difference in the world." -Steve G, Bike Works Warehouse Manager
Thank you, Steve, for your commitment to the environment, community, social justice, and the belief that everybody deserves access to the joy & liberation of cycling! #werehaus ...

**VOLUNTEER CALL** @marysplacewa, @pedaling_relief_project, & @thelittlefreepantries are collaborating on an event with support from @cascadebicycle & Bike Works TOMORROW to redistribute non-perishable foods to local, mutual aid community groups and projects in Seattle.
The goal is to redistribute SEVERAL THOUSANDS of pounds of food in one night to local neighborhoods via cyclists and food pantries. The map shows several of the hundreds of free food pantries across the city which is a growing network, and a valuable asset to hyperlocal communities during the current health crisis. This event is kind of like a scavenger hunt designed to connect people, bicycles, and neighbors to food!
Join us on THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 24th between 4 - 7 PM at the Bike Works Warehouse in Columbia City on S Hudson St, or at the @whitecenterfoodbank if you can help volunteer by bike or by car to redistribute non-perishable food to local food pantries, tables and community groups.
Please reach out to confirm a pick-up slot as organizers are limiting the number of pickups in half hour increments to maintain social distancing.
